BBC Stargazing Live 2014 Stargazing (Public Event)

BBC Stargazing Live 2014 will once more take place in January. As part of the Stargazing Live programme of events, we are holding an event at the Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura, Rotchell Road, Dumfries DG2 7SW.

Saturday 11 January 2014
7pm - 9.30pm
Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura

For the past 3 years the format has been for the BBC to show 3 live television programmes (provisionally on 7, 8 and 9 January 2014). These live programmes are then followed up by events that are to be held throughout the UK. Dumfries Astronomy Society are holding a BBC Stargazing Live event on Saturday 11 January at the Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura.

The key themes for this year's TV programmes include Space Weather, Space Exploration and The Milky Way and other Galaxies, and we plan to base some of our evening on these themes.

Take part in a variety of interactive activities inside the museum. Each activity will be manned by one of the Dumfries Astronomy Society members. Weather permitting, some of the members will be outside with telescopes and binoculars to give a guided tour of the night sky. Tea, coffee, squash and refreshments will be available indoors. Please wear warm clothes, hats, scarves and gloves for the observing.

7pm-9.30pm - all welcome!
Suitable for all ages.
